About the Author
मोहम्मद इब्राहिम ज़ौक़ (1789-1854) उर्दू अदब के एक मशहूर शायर थे। इनका असली नाम शेख़ इब्राहिम था। ग़ालिब के समकालीन शायरों में ज़ौक़ बहुत ऊपर का दर्जा रखते हैं। वे आख़िरी मुग़ल बादशाह बहादुर शाह ज़फ़र के उस्ताद और राजकवि थे और मिर्ज़ा ग़ालिब से उनकी प्रतिद्वंदिता प्रसिद्ध है। अंत में इस कमाल के उस्ताद ने 1271 हिजरी (1854 ई।) में सत्रह दिन बीमार रहकर परलोक गमन किया। मरने के तीन घंटे पहले यह शे’र कहा था: कहते हैं ‘ज़ौक़’ आज जहां से गुज़र गया क्या खूब आदमी था, खुदा मग़फ़रत करे।
